HSM Goes Green

Hidden Springs Maple believes in keeping our planet green. We reduce waste where and when we can, and utilize technology to help reduce our carbon footprint.
During initial construction, we installed geothermal to heat the shipping room and the house that is connected to the farm store. Geothermal heating/cooling operates as a ground source heat pump that uses the earth’s constant temperature to heat and cool a building. After building construction was completed, we installed seventy two 230-watt solar panels that generate approximately 19,786 kWh per year of electricity. This electricity powers the geothermal system and brings us close to our goal of operating a net zero energy facility.
